A few words from the founder:

I started flying RC helicopters in 2006 as a hobby. Later I installed a wireless camera and the view from the sky was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. After this moment I could not stop thinking how to devise a camera which can fly freely in the sky and shoot good movies (steady cam with Z axis). My goal was to avoid shooting 5 minutes of film for producing only 3 seconds of good quality, but to make all 5 minutes usable without any stabilization software.

After 2 years of hard work my team came up with a camera head which could drive 5 kg cameras; it did not just stabilize the pictures but kept angles to the ground and followed absolute azimuth. The next challenge was to make the flying vehicle that could carry the camera head. We tried RC helicopters but the vibration and the big blades made them unreliable and very dangerous for close range filming.

This is why we developed “Phoca”. It is a big four rotor RC helicopter which can carry 22 kg and is vibration free because of its small plastic propellers.

Our Achievement:

Most of the companies use flying cameras to shoot movies from the top. Our system can replace steady cameras – it can be used just like a big crane with a very long axis. The impressive steadiness of the picture gives the operators the freedom to use flying Phoca in a multitude of environments.
